Decade of winners

Looking at the past decade of winners from major sports leagues, its clear to see the divide between North American and European sport. European football has produced an average of 3 different champions over the past decade while American sports leagues rarely have the same winner more than once in a row.

Across the European leagues the Bundesliga is the most restricted in terms of winners, with only Bayern Munich having lifted the trophy in the past decade. The English Premier League in comparison is much more competitive with five winners in the past decade, with even an unexpected champion in Leicester City a team that is not considered part of the 'Big Six'. There is however, always the threat that Manchester City go on a period of domination and make the EPL the next Bundesliga.

The Italian Serie A has taken a turn for the better in recent years in which the end of season actually means something at the top end of the league. Juventus has stopped dominating which has produced 2 new champions in the past 2 years with a 3rd (Napoli) looking likely this season.
